Northern Lights Forecast Today and Tomorrow Night

The information given below is about the Northern Lights forecast for the next 3 Days. The maximum KP index indicated that the chances of haunting the Northern Lights are higher. The information provided is based on the Space Weather Prediction Center & NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration), which changes every 30 to 90 minutes. 

Friday 10/01/2025: The KP index today can vary between 1 and 2 it can be 2 during the night when the skies are darker. The best time to view Norther Lights today is after 8:30 PM. 

Saturday 11/01/2025: The KP index on Saturday 11 January will lie somewhere between 2 to 3 which means you can see these magical nights during night time. The best time to see these lights is after 10:00 PM try to visit far away from the city’s light pollution.

Sunday 12/01/2025: On Sunday the KP index will lie between 2 to 4.  The peak time for viewing these lights is after midnight. If you are planning to see these magical lights the best time to visit is on Sunday at midnight. 

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration: A geomagnetic storm is projected to affect the Earth over the weekend, likely pulling the northern lights further south after forecasters warned about the lingering effects of a recent coronal mass ejection.

According to the NOAA Space Weather Prediction Centre: the main center of the Northern Lights now is Northern Alaska, Northern Canada, and the Southern Part of Greenland.

The Kp index remains right below five; therefore, most of northern Canada and Alaska can see the northern lights on Saturday and Sunday. A view line for that Kp index-marking “moderate”-is likely to drop below the Canadian border to northern Iowa, with a great possibility of aurora borealis sightings in northeastern Washington, northern Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, northern Wisconsin, and Upper Michigan, according to NOAA. There will also be a lesser opportunity for those in Wyoming, South Dakota, Iowa, New York, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Maine to see the phenomenon.

The northern lights can be best viewed between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. local time from the high ground away from light pollution, according to NOAA, which further states that colorful displays can even be seen as far as 620 miles away under optimal conditions.
